Caring for You Like Family—Because We’ve Been There Too

In 2012, while navigating the United Kingdom’s healthcare system during two major family illnesses and raising a very young family, I experienced firsthand how difficult it can be to access quality healthcare services. I discovered how rare it is to find genuine support, empathy, and timely answers when I needed them most. – Annie-Brient.

I have always known from a young age, that I wanted to help and care for others. My journey began in a small town in Wales, where I was raised in a close-knit community shaped by kindness and compassion. I initially began my career in catering, drawn to the joy of cooking and baking especially cakes to bring happiness to others through food. However, the passing of my mother was a turning point in my life. Witnessing the empathy and dedication of the Macmillan nurses who cared for her, left a lasting impression and inspired me to pursue a more meaningful path in social care. Motivated by this experience, I invested in my personal and professional development, earning a degree in teaching. Keen to broaden my understanding of leadership within the care sector, I later completed a management degree, which allowed me to train and support carers in providing high-quality care to individuals with a range of needs, including disabilities and age-related conditions. With over 25 years of experience across a variety of organisations, I can say with absolute certainty that transitioning into social care was the right decision. Becoming a Care Manager has been more than a career—it has been a true vocation. - Samantha
